Melany Warren

Melany is a second year undergraduate student working towards here BSc in Civil Engineering Co-op. She started working with Dr.Cruz in October 2019 and is currently in the Dean’s Research program.

Starting in January, she has been working with Masters student Miguelangel Bilotta and his research into the assessment and design of slender masonry walls for future optimization. Her work compares the Canadian and American codes (CSA S304-14 and TMS/402/602-16 respectively) for the calculation of the PDelta effect in masonry walls. Further she has worked on modeling slender masonry walls using a fibre finite element model on OpenSees to make recommendations for these codes. This will allow for future designs to be more efficient when working with slender masonry walls.
